This is probably the best location for your question and the duplicate post is not needed. It would require someone who has purchased the Apogee Icon package to check if they have a similar issue. Stardock support work from Monday -  Friday EST. You could send a help request directly to support@stardock.com for them to look into this issue.

Keep checking back in case a resolution is offered. 

It looks like the control panel icon may not have been assigned properly. Will need to wait for someone who knows how to open a sub pack in package builder.

Is this your account that is over four years old, or have you used bugmenot.

It sounds like the icon did not update properly.

You might try the following:

1 - Disable any 'Drag locking' function via the dock context menu (right-click the dock to see this).

2 - Drag the current 'control panel' entry off the dock to remove it.

3 - Open 'My Computer' and show the folders tree view in the explorer window.

4 - Drag the control panel icon onto the dock (assuming you have the Apogee denim package applied).

5 - Save the theme via the ObjectDock configuration panel.

That should do it.

Note - alternatively, you can right-click the dock entry > dock entry properties > change image button > navigate to "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager\Themes\Apogee (Denim)" folder > select the control panel icon (which is 'Apogee (Denim) Icon 07'). Remember to save theme also.

Note #2 - you can also copy any of the Apogee icons to a sub-folder in the IconPackager directory (either the Images or a user created folder) to allow easy access to build dock themes.

 

Hey Corky, when control panel is on desktop, the Denim sub does not apply the icon. Have not tested all subs but the four I did do apply icon. How does one go about opening a sub in Package Builder to assign icon where it needs to be.

I have no problem applying the control panel icon from the 'Denim' sub-package when icon is on desktop. Note - I created the control panel shortcut by right-click dragging the icon from the start menu and selecting 'Create Shortcut Here' (before applying any packages). Therefore, I am not sure what might create that issue. Have you tried restoring all icons > rebooting > deleting and recreating the control panel shortcut icon > applying 'Denim' sub-package?

As for opening a 'sub' in Package Builder, that seems to be a question for the ages. I can only load the default system icons or load the package listed under the 'Recent' menu button, which does not show any of the sub-packages. Furthermore, the 'Open' function in Package Builder does not offer to open '.subpackage' files - either an oversight by Stardock, or a limitation in the 'sub-package' function.

The only way I know of to change the icon is to apply the sub-package and then use the 'Icons and Cursors' button to display the icons and change any icon displayed in that dialog. Perhaps a sub-package could then be created by loading Package Builder/Sub Packages?

Sorry, I have not played around enough with the sub-package function to offer any possible workarounds. I hope that Stardock will indeed improve the documentation this year and include instructions on some of the more prominent functions offered in their programs. Without it, we would seem to be in a 'beta' field of play here. Not a bad thing if you are fairly advanced in computer systems, but not ideal for the novice users out there.

On a side note, I know that there was a post that had comments by Mormegil which outlined the basic requirements for creating sub-packages, but I only remember that the post title had 'Apogee' in the title and was originally posted around the release date of the first Apogee release. As I recall, the main question was how to create the '.subpackage' file and have it included in the sub-package folder to allow the sub-package to apply properly.   

Edit - I found the post I referred to above here https://forums.wincustomize.com/?forumid=54&aid=97615 - the comments #12 and #14 seem to be clear in what needs to be done to create these sub-package files. Perhaps changing the '.subpackage' file in a sub-package folder temporarily would allow Package Builder to see it and load it for editing. If I have time, I will try this later tonight - if not, then perhaps some other adventurous individual will test it.

Hey Corky, tried shortcut your way, still no go with Denim. Did all the rebuild, repair in IP. Can't reboot now have a render running. Is no big deal for me anyway as I was just testing to see if could reproduce bobbyhundreds problem.

It is strange that just seems to be Denim, I have now tested 8 other subs, they all apply control panel icon on desktop.

Hey Corky, thanks for the link. Renaming the subpackage to iconpackage worked, when opened Denim in Package Builder it looked right so I changed one of the subs that worked and opened it. Both had control panel assigned at the same spots.

Thanks ,Hankers,Cavan1 and Corky_o for your prompt responses.I worked my way through your suggestions but this one icon still will not appear in my docks.I tried renaming the denim subpackage to iconpackage aswell,but as soon as I drag the control panel to the dock and assign an icon(denim) it disappears again.
Not to worry though,it's not the end of the world.
I would like to reiterate though,my thanks for your responses and also to thank you for great products and a fab web site.I can't believe the care and effort you guys put into all of this,it's extremely impressive.

One other thing you can try is to 'clear the cache'.

This is the term used to express the procedure of deleting the saved configuration files for your current dock theme, which are stored in the 'ObjectDock' (or 'ObjectDock Plus) folder found in the "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder - where 'USERNAME' is the name on your account.

Note - the 'Local Settings' folder is a normally hidden folder in XP, so you would need to select and apply the option called "Show hidden files and folders" under the folder options dialog (My Computer>Tools menu>Folder Options>View tab).

To "clear the cache", you would unload ObjectDock and then delete the 'ObjectDock' (or 'ObjectDock Plus') folder found in the aforementioned location. This will remove all user settings for ObjectDock and force the program to load with the defaults. The only issue with this is the question of whether or not a saved theme would behave the same way when reloaded. If so, then you would want to rebuild the theme from scratch and resave.

For technically correct troubleshooting, you would want to do the following:

1 - Unload ObjectDock

2 - Restore Windows to the default XP 'Luna' theme, including all icons.

3 - Clear the cache for ObjectDock

4 - Reload ObjectDock and see if you can successfully create a dock with the control panel icon on it.

5 - If successful, you would then know that ObjectDock is behaving correctly on your machine.

6 - Create your dock theme by assigning images to the dock entries while still under the XP default theme.

7 - Save the new theme and then unload ObjectDock temporarily.

8 - Customize your GUI with any other programs you use (e.g., IconPackager, WindowBlinds, etc.).

9 - Reload ObjectDock to verify it is still behaving correctly.

10 - If all is still well, enjoy your customized system.

Note #2 - quite some time ago (it seems) I wrote a mini tutorial on working with ObjectDock which focused on the current file system (before the inclusion of an ObjectDock library folder in 'My Documents'). To the best of my knowledge, it is applicable to this day and should not cause any issues while running under Windows XP.
